Nine Projects for 2012

Friday, March 9th, 2012
Just Believe

With 9 Projects, We Definitely Believe!

Nine projects including family movies, inspirational books, live events that will change your life, a powerful play on forgiveness, and more is what we have in store for our Trost Moving Pictures family and friends this year. Are you ready?

At Trost Moving Pictures we believe in pushing ourselves and facing our fears, after all we were founded by director Tracy J Trost on a dare to follow his dreams. (You can read that story here.) So this week when I posted that we were working on 6 projects over on our Facebook page, that seemed crazy.

Then I had to update it because I had forgotten one and it looked like we had 7 projects on the stove here and that seemed even crazier. So I guess now that I remembered two more we must be certifiably insane with 9 projects here in the works. As all our fans suggested, we’re doing our best to remember to relax.

So what are all of these projects we are working on? Well, we can’t tell you about all of them, but we can tell you about most of them.

Books

Let’s start with the book director Tracy J Trost is working on. As he mentioned in The Successful Life Mindset Episode 26 he’s had an idea for a 30 day guide to changing your life that focuses on the steps he used to accomplish his dream of becoming a director. He’s currently writing the book now and hopefully we’ll have more info soon. Be sure to follow Tracy on Facebook and Twitter to get updates from him on this and other projects throughout the week. That’s one!

Live Events

Next, let’s look at our live events. In just about a month the Trost Moving Pictures crew is heading to New York City to work with the Center for Creative Media and it’s leader Doug Rittenhouse to broadcast an Acquire the Fire event on God.tv to over 200 countries around the world. The great thing about this event is we bring a crew of industry professionals and they work alongside young kids learning the trade from the Center for Creative Media who are getting hands on training in television broadcast. It’s definitely an adventure.

The next live event we are working on is the One Nation One Day event with Dominic Russo ministries for July 2013. Tracy talked about this event a little bit in the Director’s Diary 2012 Episode 9 and you can learn more about it at www.OneNationOneDay.com. It’s a monumental event and is going to definitely push us all past our comfort zones, but it could has a huge potential to impact people’s lives positively and as you know, that’s what we are all about here at Trost Moving Pictures.

The final live event we are working on is still in the development stage but we are going to Branson next week to meet with some more people about moving it forward and hopefully we’ll be able to share more with you soon. That’s 2 – 4!

Family Movies

Now lets move on to our inspirational family friendly movie projects. As most of you know we are working on a project called Then & Now, which is a romantic comedy based on a book that is yet to be published by bestselling author Jim Stovall. This is a pretty big project and we are moving forward with hopes to get it into production this year or next year. Tracy talks about in the Director’s Diary 2012 Episode 2.

Our next film project, Tracy mentioned in the Director’s Diary 2012 Episode 8 when he talked about his meeting with New York Times bestselling author Andy Andrews. This project is based on Andy’s book The Lost Choice and we are just in the early stages on this one which is sure to be one of the biggest projects Trost Moving Pictures has taken on yet. If you haven’t read Andy’s book The Lost Choice yet, you should get it today so you can see what we’re looking at. It’s on Amazon here The Lost Choice.

The next two family movie projects we are working on are still in the development stage and we can’t share too much about them, but one of them could go into production this year still. That one has to do with adoption again and I am personally really excited about the project and the good that it can be used for. The other project will take some time to develop and Tracy is very excited about this one as well. I can tell you that both of these stories are based on real life events. So that’s 5-8!

The Stage

The final project that we are working on is of course A Christmas Snow Live! which is coming back to the Starlite Theatre for a second season starting November 1st. If you haven’t checked out A Christmas Snow Live! on Facebook you can here ACS Live! on Facebook. Once there you can see the calendar for 2012 and get tickets. This inspirational story has touched so many lives, we can’t wait to hear the great stories that come from this powerful message of forgiveness once again.

Also, we are working on a way for you to officially be a supporter of A Christmas Snow Live! so that you can have a hand in making that impact on people’s lives too! That’s 9!

Wow, nine projects, and that doesn’t include any other projects that spring up in relation to these projects like companion books and things like that. It also doesn’t include The Successful Life Mindset podcast either, that Tracy does on a weekly basis. If you aren’t listening to this podcast, you are really missing out on some amazing discussions with Cliff and Tracy about how to attain true success in life and get inspired. As you can see, we have a lot going on and your prayers and support is greatly appreciated by us all at Trost Moving Pictures.

With hope that you live your life to its greatest potential,

Joe Jestus – PMD at Trost Moving Pictures

“Life, Love, and the Movies” Episode 002

Can A Man Change His Stars?

In the movie “A Knight’s Tale” with Heath Ledger, a young boy living in days of old watched as knights jousted and was intrigued.  He asked his father if he could become a knight.  The father told him he could be anything he wanted.  A man in the stocks overheard the father and son talking.  He laughed and said the boy, a commoner, might as well try to change the stars.  The boy listened to his father, did become a knight, and did very well, but once it was known he was not a peer of the land, a simple commoner, he let the opinion of others influence his actions and his dreams all fell apart.

So, is it possible for a regular person to do whatever they want?  Absolutely!  You must plan the life you want and make it happen.  Plan it, visualize what that new life looks like, write it down and post it somewhere you will see it every day and soon it will begin to train your mind to look for opportunities to make that dream happen.  Tracy’s partner, Jim Stovall, has told him on several occasions, “Most people spend more time planning a three day vacation than they do their life.”

Cliff’s Dream

Cliff worked in his family-owned insurance business for eleven years.  It was a comfortable, cozy place because being owned by his mother and father it gave him a level of job security not often found.  Cliff did not take advantage of that security, he worked hard – was driven to perform well, but it was not the life he longed for.  Eventually he stepped out in faith and changed his stars.  Once he made the decision to move from insurance to full-time podcasting, things were going okay, but he got a very negative, discouraging email from a listener.  It brought back some of the fears Cliff had to face when he left that security.  He could have simply given up and gone back to the insurance business, but the only failures are the ones you allow to stop your dream.  You may have to back up and do things differently than you first planned to make it work, but if you persevere, you will not fail.  Don’t let the opinions of others stop you from changing your stars.

People need to find a place where they can have it all – family, dream job, peace and happiness.  You must believe you can.  Share your dreams with someone that can give you facts, not opinions.

You must be passionate about what you do to succeed.  Find something you love so much you’d do it for free and then find a way to make money doing it.  Retrain your brain to look for ways to be successful.  Choose your goal; write it down, say it to yourself and eventually it will train your mind to look for the opportunities.

Does your environment matter?

The best answer is it depends.  It is more difficult to become successful in an environment not conducive to success. One of the reasons is that you tend to gravitate toward the lifestyle of your friends.  Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”  So choose as your friends positive, like-minded people.  You will help each other succeed.  In the movie “Pursuit of Happiness”, the Will Smith character was, at one time, homeless; however, he never gave up his dream and eventually he lived that dream.  So, does environment matter?  If you can change your environment to something more in line with your dream life, change it.  If you surround yourself with friends that are constantly negative, change your friends.  Most important is that despite your environment and friends, never give up.

Tracy’s pastor from Minnesota told him “Your future is determined by the friends you choose and the books you read.”  That’s good advice for everyone.  Tracy gave an example of choosing friends wisely when he and Jim Stovall had a decision to make when Jim wanted to offer products at no charge and Tracy wanted monetary reward.  Jim asked him “What would you do if you were amazing?”  Tracy realized he was looking at the issue backwards and he agreed with Jim to give the products at no charge.  Everyone has the ability to be amazing.  Now he asks himself what he would do if he were amazing when faced with a decision.  It helps put things in perspective.  One of many, many books that would be a wise choice is a recommendation from Cliff for the book “The Strangest Secret” by Earl Nightingale.  It has a positive and powerful message about living life to the fullest.

Things to remember:

  • You can be whatever you want to be
  • You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with
  • Your future is determined by the friends you choose and the books you read
  • Everyone has the ability to be amazing
  • You CAN change the stars!

About Cliff and Tracy:

Cliff Ravenscraft is a podcast producer, consultant and coach that left a position in the insurance business to live his dream of a full-time career in the world of podcasts.  Cliff, like Tracy, hopes to use his podcasts to inspire people.

Cliff started with a goal to become debt free (based on a Dave Ramsey philosophy) and was eventually able to leave his “wages” job to fulfill his dream job.  Taking a step of faith, Cliff left his job and he and his wife made sacrifices and adapted their lives to make the podcasting income work as the business grew.

Tracy Trost, founder of Trost Moving Pictures is an independent filmmaker, writer, producer and director.  Tracy used his entrepreneurial spirit to follow his dream and seize opportunities to live his dream of making movies that entertain and inspire others.

Tracy has made three films to-date:  “Find Me”, “A Christmas Snow” and “The Lamp”.  All three films have been successful.  Tracy’s “luck” with his career is actually the result of hard work, commitment and sacrifices made by him and his family.  Tracy chooses to surround himself with other, like-minded, successful people.  He worked with Jim Stovall (“The Ultimate Gift”) on both “A Christmas Snow” and “The Lamp”.  The opening/closing music for this podcast is “Heartbeat” written by Kelly Morrison and is featured in Tracy’s movie “The Lamp”.

Quote of the Day:

“Opportunity will not interest itself in someone who is not interested in it.”  Napoleon Hill

Luck Versus Seizing Opportunity Examples:

A story about Steven Spielberg comes from the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.  Steven Spielberg loved the movies.  It was said he left a studio tour, completed the tour on his own, made friends with the guard on the way out, used that friendship day after day to continue visiting the studio, eventually took over an empty office, got himself invited to meetings and made things happen.  In short, Mr. Spielberg took every opportunity that presented itself.

One of the drivers on “Ice Road Truckers” was consistently the most or one of the most successful each season.  He is driven, he goes for it, and he makes things happen.  Another driver, a rookie, waited for things to happen – they never did.  He never took charge of his own destiny.

Tracy wrote an article “Does God Care about the Individual Man?” He and his sons were on their way to Canada on a fishing trip.  Along the way, Tracy noticed smoke from one of the wheels on his boat trailer.  He started to pull over, but noticed a repair shop just up the road and pulled in.  It was closed; however, the owner was there for an appointment and agreed to look at the wheel with Tracy.  The man said it couldn’t be fixed.  Tracy offered to help fix it, if indeed it was repairable.  The man said okay and together they actually got it fixed and Tracy and the boys were back on the road.  All of this proves that God does care.  The repair shop being just up the road, the owner being there after hours and the two men fixing the wheel were not just luck – it was God’s providence.

One of Tracy’s favorite Scriptures is Romans 12:2  “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Renewing your mind means to look at things differently.  You must look for the positive.  Change your thinking; change your life.

Things to Remember:

  • You must live life on purpose.
  • You must do what you have to do to get things done.
  • You must be willing to step out because there is no magic.
  • Success takes planning and organization.
  • Seize the opportunities life presents you.
  • Change your mindset to achieve success.

WinkIt and TMP Studios

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

I’m sure you’ve done it before. You were watching a great movie, probably one of ours, and you saw something you really liked. It might have been an outfit, an accessory, or maybe even a tool or gadget. How can you find it to buy? Before you would have to freeze the movie and go online and see if you could find it somewhere. Well not anymore. Now you can WinkIt!

TMP Studios is proud to announce that we have licensed our films A Christmas Snow and The Lamp to be used on WinkIt, a startup company based out of MN that is taking all the legwork out of finding those cool items in movies that you want.

For example if you visit the A Christmas Snow page on WinkIt here: ACS on WinkIt you can see the different scenes from the movie and then see which items you can buy from WinkIt that are in those scenes. You could get Kathleen’s (Catherine Mary Stewart’s) jacket or the jewelry she’s wearing. Maybe you want Sam’s (Muse Watson’s) shirt or vest, you can get them.

You can also see The Lamp page here: The Lamp on WinkIt and check out all the different items from The Lamp that the WinkIt team has found or created. Perhaps you really like an outfit that Lisa (Meredith Salenger) or Stanley (Jason London) had or maybe you’re feeling more like you want Charles’ (Louis Gossett Jr’s) bow tie.

It’s a very cool idea and we are proud to be working with them at the beginning and we can’t wait to see how far WinkIt goes. Be sure to tell your friends and family about them too as they are just starting out and they could use some TMP Studios fan support. Because we all know that TMP Studios fans are the best fans out there.
