Bring a TMP Movie to Your Local Theater

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Tugg Inc LogoThere is still nothing like sitting in a dark room with a great story unfolding in front of you on a giant screen with incredible sound. No, not your living room after the kids are in bed. The Cinema, the theater, the Big Screen! As those of you who have followed us at Trost Moving Pictures for a while know, we have chosen not to release our films on the big screen for various reasons, one of them being financial. Many times films find themselves or their investors in a financial hole after trying to make it on the silver screen and we would just rather not do that to ourselves or an investor. But, thankfully with advances in technology and the ability for film studios like ourselves to interact with audiences (that’s you) this is changing.

This week I (Joe Jestus – PMD at TMP) had the privilege to speak with Tugg Inc about their new platform and service that I personally feel is going to be a game changer for independent filmmakers (with good content) and the audiences that love them. I also feel it’s going to be a great service to theaters as well for the reason I am about to tell you.

Tugg works with content providers, theaters, and promoters (this could be you). They take films from content providers and find screens from theater owners, and give promoters the opportunity to bring their favorite film to their favorite screen. So for example you could go on Tugg at some point in the future and find The Lamp or A Christmas Snow because you love them so much and say, “I want to bring A Christmas Snow to a theater in my town this Christmas and invite everyone I know.” So you go on and become a promoter for A Christmas Snow and you pick a theater in your town on a set day and time. Tugg will tell you what amount of tickets at the price you pick you need to sell before the event can happen. If you hit this amount of tickets, usually around 50 at $10 a piece the event is on and everyone’s credit cards are charged on the day of the event and they all get emailed tickets to bring to the event. If you don’t hit the minimum, no event and no one pays. It’s sort of like Kickstarter that way.

So why is it so great for content providers like us and theaters? Because of this minimum, we are both guaranteed a minimum payment from the event. Many times for content providers they are actually losing money when a movie shows and the same for theaters if no one shows up. This changes that. So why is it so great for the audience? Because, you get to see the films you want to see, on the screen you want to see them, when you want to see them. It’s almost as if the local big screen becomes your own personal theater. How cool is that? I think it’s really cool. No more avoiding the theater because the inspirational family friendly movies you want to see aren’t there.

So as you can tell, award-winning director Tracy J Trost and all of us at Trost Moving Pictures are excited about Tugg and the opportunity it provides us. What we need to know now is, who is interested in bringing The Lamp or A Christmas Snow to their local theater? If that’s you, please leave a comment below and let us know what city and state you want to bring it to. If we get enough interest, we’ll move forward on this.

Oh, I almost forgot, to tell you about another benefit for those who become promoters. You can earn 5% of the sales for being a promoter. That’s what I call the icing on the cake.

No matter what we decide to do with A Christmas Snow and The Lamp, we are looking forward to working with Tugg on our next film, Letting Go. So get ready for more information on how you will be able to be a part of that theatrical launch for Letting Go because it’s going to be exciting!

So remember, if you want to bring A Christmas Snow or The Lamp to a theater in your town for your friends and family, business clients, church, or organization, leave a comment below with the city and state you want to bring it to.

With a Great Excitement for the Future,

Joe Jestus Producer of Marketing and Distribution at Trost Moving Pictures

2012 – Sneak Peek

Friday, December 30th, 2011

With 2011 coming to a close we are thankful and grateful to those who have been with us from the good old days of 2009 when we launched out on director Tracy J Trost’s dream of making family friendly inspirational films and we are thankful for all the new friends we have met since then. It is your support that makes it possible for us to keep going in 2012.

We have several films that we are looking at moving forward on and it will just be a matter of which work out first. As you know each film is a major endeavor that takes time, talent, money and a team to make it possible. While we don’t have exact details, after all this is a sneak peek, we can tell you we’re looking at a Romantic Comedy, Western, Family Drama, and an Inspirational Period Piece. We are excited for each of them for different reasons and we can’t wait to share them all with you. What one will come to life in 2012, we don’t know yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do so you can join us for the adventure!

Live Events

Those of you with us from the beginning know that we got our start in TV and Live Events and 2012 might be a trip back to our roots. There are a couple of live events that TMP Studios might be a part of coming up in 2012 and as soon as the ink on the contracts are dry we’ll let you know where the TMP Studios crew will be headed off to for these events. Get ready for the TMP Truck Cam and your chance to chat with Director Tracy J Trost while he’s directing a live event!

As I mentioned above, TMP Studios got its start with Tracy J Trost who has an extensive background in television. We are hoping to get back to that history and we’ve got some exciting options for this fun medium. These options are in such an early stage that I can’t even share what they are about, but we are excited to get them moving and share them with you!

As you know, 2011 marked our first foray onto the stage with A Christmas Snow Live! and we loved it. You can rest assure that at some time and in some fashion TMP Studios will be back on the stage and as soon as we have all the details and dates locked down we’ll let you know so you can join us for this incredibly powerful experience.

With bestselling author Jim Stovall and award-winning director Tracy J Trost continuing to join forces in 2012, you know there will be more great books from both of them. So clear some space on your shelves or in your favorite tablet device for ebooks and get ready for more inspiration and adventure in 2012.

Thank You

Finally, I want to thank you once again for your support. It is what keeps us going when we launch out to chase our dreams of creating projects that will leave a lasting impact on our communities and our world. Because of your support you are just as much a part of the difference that is being made as we are. Thank you for a great 2011 and we can’t wait to continue the adventure in 2012 with you by our side!
