Testing Tugg with the Joffrey Movie

Friday, May 18th, 2012

As many of you know, we have been talking with Tugg Inc about getting our past films, Find Me, A Christmas Snow, and The Lamp into their system so that you can demand it at a local theater in your area and have a great event watching inspirational stories on the big screen. We are also hopefully going to be releasing our next film, Letting Go through Tugg as well.

Because of this, I wanted to test out the system first hand before we asked you (our awesome fans, friends, and family) to use it. So this June 19th at 7:30pm I am going to be hosting an event through Tugg to show Joffrey – Mavericks of Dance a documentary about the Joffrey Ballet. I’m still getting all the details set for this event, but I wanted to give those of you in the area a heads up to save the date to help us test out how Tugg works so that we can be all the more prepared for when we put our Trost Moving Pictures films into the system for you.

As soon as I have the event page and all the info where you can share and buy tickets to this event I’ll let you know. Thanks so much for all of your support and your desire to see Trost Moving Pictures films in your favorite theater. This event is the first step for us in that process.

Crisis Pregnancy Outreach Movie Inspired by True Story

Crisis Pregnancy Outreach Project and Faith Like a Child Movie ProjectAward-Winning Director Tracy J Trost Inspired By True Story Partners With Crisis Pregnancy Outreach For Groundbreaking Film

Tulsa, OK ~ A unique partnership between Trost Moving Pictures and Crisis Pregnancy Outreach (CPO) of Tulsa has been established in an effort to raise awareness, donations, and increase their presence within the community. After meeting with CPO Director Cheryl Bauman, Trost Moving Pictures’ Founder and President Tracy J Trost will take a very public stance to rally for the nonprofit organization by writing and directing a movie based on the real life CPO story of Maryann Lamer.

Trost has written Faith Like A Child, a powerful story of how two women find courage in crisis and come together in a very dramatic way through the prayers of a little girl. Trost believes when a well-written script is brought to life in the best cinematic way, the film not only inspires but can teach viewers valuable life lessons. Faith Like A Child has a very strong pro-life message, but will arouse interest in people to weigh options through moral and ethical choices for those who have faced an unwanted pregnancy.

The project is currently raising funds for the film through a mixture of foundations, corporate sponsorship, and individual support with plans to be fully funded by the end of the year and shooting slated for Spring 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Businesses or individuals interested in getting involved can visit www.CPOProject.com for more information and to donate.

Faith Like A Child solidifies Trost’s spot at the forefront of filmmaking by using a film to raise awareness and funds for Crisis Pregnancy Outreach. Every time someone sees the film they will learn about CPO and their life-changing mission and just as important every time the film is purchased or licensed CPO will be earning much needed funds to continue their work.

Faith Like A Child is more than just another film project to all of us at Trost Moving Pictures. It’s an extension of our belief that great stories are still the best way to make an impact on the world and anyone that gets involved in this project will be making a difference in the life of babies, birth mothers, and adoptive families forever,” says Trost.

About Crisis Pregnancy Outreach: The primary mission of Crisis Pregnancy Outreach, which started as an outreach ministry of Christian Chapel Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma is to provide love

and assistance, free of charge, to young women who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy, and to their children as well.

Crisis Pregnancy Outreach’s comprehensive list of services developed as new seeds arose amidst the young women it ministered to. When a girl needed a place to live during her pregnancy, “host homes” began as the members of Christian Chapel opened their homes to provide a loving, family environment. When a girl needed items for setting up an apartment, the warehouse was formed.

Initially, adoption referrals were made when young women chose to place their children for adoption. It soon became evident that Crisis Pregnancy Outreach should become a Licensed Adoption Agency in order to facilitate open adoptions.

Crisis Pregnancy Outreach accomplishes everything with a team of dedicated volunteers. No one has ever received a salary.

Bring a TMP Movie to Your Local Theater

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Tugg Inc LogoThere is still nothing like sitting in a dark room with a great story unfolding in front of you on a giant screen with incredible sound. No, not your living room after the kids are in bed. The Cinema, the theater, the Big Screen! As those of you who have followed us at Trost Moving Pictures for a while know, we have chosen not to release our films on the big screen for various reasons, one of them being financial. Many times films find themselves or their investors in a financial hole after trying to make it on the silver screen and we would just rather not do that to ourselves or an investor. But, thankfully with advances in technology and the ability for film studios like ourselves to interact with audiences (that’s you) this is changing.

This week I (Joe Jestus – PMD at TMP) had the privilege to speak with Tugg Inc about their new platform and service that I personally feel is going to be a game changer for independent filmmakers (with good content) and the audiences that love them. I also feel it’s going to be a great service to theaters as well for the reason I am about to tell you.

Tugg works with content providers, theaters, and promoters (this could be you). They take films from content providers and find screens from theater owners, and give promoters the opportunity to bring their favorite film to their favorite screen. So for example you could go on Tugg at some point in the future and find The Lamp or A Christmas Snow because you love them so much and say, “I want to bring A Christmas Snow to a theater in my town this Christmas and invite everyone I know.” So you go on and become a promoter for A Christmas Snow and you pick a theater in your town on a set day and time. Tugg will tell you what amount of tickets at the price you pick you need to sell before the event can happen. If you hit this amount of tickets, usually around 50 at $10 a piece the event is on and everyone’s credit cards are charged on the day of the event and they all get emailed tickets to bring to the event. If you don’t hit the minimum, no event and no one pays. It’s sort of like Kickstarter that way.

So why is it so great for content providers like us and theaters? Because of this minimum, we are both guaranteed a minimum payment from the event. Many times for content providers they are actually losing money when a movie shows and the same for theaters if no one shows up. This changes that. So why is it so great for the audience? Because, you get to see the films you want to see, on the screen you want to see them, when you want to see them. It’s almost as if the local big screen becomes your own personal theater. How cool is that? I think it’s really cool. No more avoiding the theater because the inspirational family friendly movies you want to see aren’t there.

So as you can tell, award-winning director Tracy J Trost and all of us at Trost Moving Pictures are excited about Tugg and the opportunity it provides us. What we need to know now is, who is interested in bringing The Lamp or A Christmas Snow to their local theater? If that’s you, please leave a comment below and let us know what city and state you want to bring it to. If we get enough interest, we’ll move forward on this.

Oh, I almost forgot, to tell you about another benefit for those who become promoters. You can earn 5% of the sales for being a promoter. That’s what I call the icing on the cake.

No matter what we decide to do with A Christmas Snow and The Lamp, we are looking forward to working with Tugg on our next film, Letting Go. So get ready for more information on how you will be able to be a part of that theatrical launch for Letting Go because it’s going to be exciting!

So remember, if you want to bring A Christmas Snow or The Lamp to a theater in your town for your friends and family, business clients, church, or organization, leave a comment below with the city and state you want to bring it to.

With a Great Excitement for the Future,

Award-winning writer and director Tracy J Trost had this to say about the partnership with WinkIt, “My first goal as a filmmaker is to create stories that impact people’s lives in a positive way. But as an independent filmmaker, creating new and unique ways for audiences to interact with my films and finding ways to keep our costs low while creating additional revenue streams is key for me to be able to continue succeeding at my first goal. WinkIt helps us accomplish all of these objectives.”

In addition to the two films currently on WinkItNow.com, Trost Moving Pictures and WinkIt are working on sourcing items for Trost Moving Pictures’ next two films that are set to go into production this year and the two companies couldn’t be happier to be at the forefront of what will soon be an industry standard for filmmakers and audiences alike.

Raw Talent Project 2012 Call for Scripts

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

We’ve got our script for 2012, we’ll be opening this up again in the future so stay tuned!

Call for Scripts – F.A.Q’s

1) What do I get paid if you choose my script?

You mean besides the “Gold Star” next to your name on the board here at the Trost Moving Pictures office? Okay, you twisted our arms. Because we are working on creating a film that costs less than $25,000 from start to finish, we obviously don’t have a lot of money to throw around. In fact, probably nothing upfront is more like it.

But that’s what you don’t get, what you do get is your name in the final film listed as “written by” on a single slate at the beginning and end of the film. You will also get a percentage of any profit that is made over the $25,000 budget and whatever else is spent to distribute and market the film. Not for you? That’s okay, we understand this isn’t for everyone and we’re just looking for those that it is for. Thanks for stopping by!

2) What type of script are you looking for?

As you can tell from the answer to question one, we aren’t looking for blockbuster type movies here. What we are looking for is a script that has 3 to 4 main characters and can be shot using available light in the span of a week. Crazy? Yes. Possible? Of course! If you have a script that fits that criteria and has limited locations, then you might be what we are looking for. Also, the script should be right around 85 pages long. At TMP studios, we are dedicated to telling stories with a positive message, so keep that in mind as well.

3) When are you planning on making this movie?

While we can’t tell the future… I know, you’re disappointed aren’t you? We’ve got our script for the summer of 2012. So any new scripts that are pitched now will be first in line for future Raw Talent projects. Keep in mind we are looking at the long term viability of this project, so if your script isn’t shot this year we are looking to shoot more in the future.

4) What if I don’t have a script but I want to be a part of this in front of or behind the camera?

Wow! You’re just as crazy as we are… and we like it. If you want to help, please click this link and fill out the form if you haven’t already and we’ll get in touch with you as we begin to move forward.

5) I don’t like watching videos, how do I submit my pitch?

You’re a troublemaker aren’t you? All you need to do is fill out the form above and give us your link to the unlisted Youtube video of your script’s elevator pitch. How long should it be? Well it’s an elevator pitch, so unless you press the “Stop” button on the elevator it shouldn’t be more than two minutes and that’s a really long elevator ride.

6) Does my script need to be finished?

Well, we found it’s really hard to make a movie from a script that isn’t finished. Keep in mind that through the process there will be changes and refinements made, but yes, it needs to be pretty much done if you’re going to submit it.

7) When do I have to submit my pitch by?

You have until 11:59 PM PST on April 30, 2012 to get it in, technically 11:59:59 if you’re one of those people ;-)

Still have questions?
